*She said "We've
got to talk"*
*And I knew it
was bad*
Shannon Moore
looked at his girlfriend of three years, Marina Lane, with a confused look on his face. He thought everything was going
great between them. Hell he was even going to pop "the question".
*Cause the look
in her eyes*
*Was worried and sad*
He attempted to
put his arms around her but she pulled away. He didn't know what was going on. He assumed she was happy because he knew he
was. But as the saying says "Assuming makes and ass out of you."
"Marina, what's wrong? Why do you look so sad?" he asked no longer able to stand the silence.
*She called me
an angel*
*I felt like a
clown*
*As she stared
out the window*
*And said "You'd
better sit down cause*
"Shannon," she started. "I love you; well loved may be a better word." She looked at him seeing the hurt in his
eyes.
"Marina, what happened?"
"I don't know,
I honestly don't. Shannon, I just woke up the awhile back, looked in the mirror and realized
that this," she extended her arms, "is not where I want to be. I also don't feel what I used to for you."
*This is gonna
hurt, this is gonna ache*
*This is really
gonna cause your heart to break*
*I've gotta tell
you something' that'll make you cry.*
*I'm trying to
let you down in a gentle way*
*But there's no easy goodbye*
"You fell out of love with me?" Shannon asked trying to put together the pieces of the confusing puzzle.
"Yes," she frowned.
"And Shannon I'm truly sorry because you are such a great guy. It wasn't your fault either, it's
all mine. I think I rushed into our relationship way too fast," she held his arm.
"Are you saying
"we" were a mistake?"
"No, I'd never
say that. Never!"
"You know I love
you, right?"
"Yes, I know.
I love you too, just not the same way, and it's not enough."
"Are you leaving?"
"I think that
would be the best," she confessed.
"Can't we make
this work or at least try?"
"No."
*I thought I was
dreamin'*
*I just didn't
know where to start*
*I just wanted
to hold her*
*And show her all of my heart*
*So I told her
I loved her*
*And she said "I love you too"*
*Then she quietly
whispered.*
*There's someone
new?*
"Please," Shannon asked once again.
"Shannon, there's someone else now. I don't love you, I love him. I didn't want to tell you because I didn't want
to hurt you."
"Who is it?"
"You don't want
to know," she said trying to hold back the tears. "I'm sorry."
"Damn it Marina! I want to know. Do I know the asshole?"
"Yes," she admitted.
"Tell me," he
screamed loosing his temper.
"Matt," she said
turning away from him.
"Dear God," Shannon sighed placing his face in his hands and shaking his head. He should have picked up on it. "How long?"
"Two months?"
she answered without looking at him. She had tears running down her cheeks and guessed he did too.
"And you have
just decided to tell me know?"
*This is gonna
hurt, this is gonna ache*
*This is really
gonna cause your heart to break*
*I've gotta tell
you something' that'll make you cry.*
*I'm trying to
let you down in a gentle way*
*But there's no easy goodbye*
"I'm sorry, I
should have told you sooner, but..."
"But what??? You
wanted to let me believe you loved me. I can't believe you Marina...and Matt, for God's sake he was supposed to be my best
friend. How could the two of you do this to me?"
"We didn't mean
for it to happen! Honest. It just kinda did. And he asked me to marry him."
"To marry him?
What the hell did you say?"
"I told him yes."
Shannon stood up and paced. "This has to be a nightmare! It has to be."
"That's not all."
"What else can
there be?"
"I'm pregnant."
She informed him.
"Who's the father?"
"I'm not sure,"
she admitted. "But Matt said he doesn't care that he'll raise it as his own either way."
*It's so hard
to let go*
*Of the one that
ya know*
*Loved you better*
*Than all of the
rest*
*But she stood
there by the door*
*As she turned
to me once more*
*Sayin' "Maybe, this is all for the best" oh*
"I'm leaving,
I'll be back to pick up my things later. Probably when you're not here though, and then I leave my key on the table. Please
don't hate me or Matt. We never meant for this to happen this way. We both still care about you," she paused at the door.
"Like hell you
do," he wiped the tears off his face. "I don't want to see you again, so make sure that you get your stuff while I'm gone.
I'm sorry I wasted three long years on someone that ended up to be a whore in the end," he said out of anger. "I really hope
you are happy," he added sarcastically. "Goodbye."
"Bye," she said
opening the door and closing it behind her. She felt empty inside as she leaned against the door.
Once she was gone
Shannon let the tears fall, she was his life. He loved her so much that he didn't know if he
could go on without her but he knew he'd surely try to.
*This is gonna
hurt, this is gonna ache*
*This is really
gonna cause your heart to break*
*I've gotta tell
you something' that'll make you cry.*
*I'm trying to
let you down in a gentle way*
*But there's no easy goodbye*
